The ice cream we were sharing had melted away leaving our hands with an unpleasant sticky feeling. I tried to lick it clean, with no success. I chuckled to myself as I wiped my hand, now a gooey mixture of saliva and caramel-toffee ice cream, on the back of Lily’s new flower-printed, cotton dress.
